Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring 2+ years of medical/oncology ICU experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• MICU setting caring for medical and oncology ICU patients
• Patient population includes ARDS, multi-system organ failure, septic shock, GI bleeding, complicated pregnancy, oncology, renal failure, and COPD cases
• Unit also cares for patients in all phases of transplant needs
• Patient ratio is 1:2
• 3x12 Day (7:00-19:30) or Night (19:00-7:30) shifts available
• Weekend rotation required unless otherwise posted
• Floating within the hospital required, but not to sister hospitals
• No on-call requirements
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of medical and/or oncology ICU experience required
• Completion of Relias EKG telemetry compliance test required
• Strong ICU skills required, especially for candidates without academic medical center experience
• Experience with ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with chronic/acute renal failure and CVVHD/CRRT
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
• Skills in oncology care, with chemotherapy administration experience preferred
• GI surgery care experience

Additional Information

• Provide family-centered critical care to medically complex and oncology ICU patients
• Comfort with end-of-life care strongly preferred
• Medical ICU background strongly preferred
• Located within a Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital
• First-time travelers accepted, though previous travel experience is strongly preferred
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
• RTO must be kept to a minimum, with 7 days restricted in November/December, allowing coverage over only one holiday and requiring work on 2 of 3 holidays
• RTO cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Prior UW staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
