ICU RN Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Minimum 1 year of ICU nursing experience preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Ability to accurately interpret EKG strips and telemetry rhythms
• Experience with arterial lines, central lines, and ventilated patients
• Strong skills in titrating vasopressors and other vasoactive drips
• Comfort working in a fast-paced critical care and acute care environment
• Negative drug screen required prior to start

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care nursing to medically complex and critically ill patients in the MICU
• Monitor and assess patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, and overdose
• Titrate drips and manage cardioactive and vasoactive medications per provider orders
• Interpret telemetry and EKG strips and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Care for ventilated patients and support respiratory equipment troubleshooting as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate treatment plans
• Float to lower-acuity units when needed and provide safe, effective patient care
• Document accurately in EPIC and maintain excellent clinical communication
