Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to mothers and newborns in the LDRP unit.
• Assist with labor and delivery, including triage of obstetrical patients and use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring).
• Manage central lines (CVC/PICC), insulin drips, and circulate for C-sections.
• Conduct sterile vaginal exams and perform isolation precautions/PPE.
• Administer medications such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and antihypertensives.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and C-sections, including forceps/vacuum extraction and APGAR scoring.
• Provide newborn care, including assessments, phototherapy, and teaching parents about circumcision care and car seat safety.
• Support breastfeeding and lactation, manage epidural anesthesia, and provide postpartum care.
• Participate in rapid response/code teams and interpret dysrhythmias.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in LDRP or a similar setting.
• Current NY nursing license.
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP.
• Experience with Allscripts charting system preferred.
• Community hospital experience required.
• Proficiency in skills such as starting and maintaining IVs, drawing venous blood, and administering blood products.
• Ability to independently interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry strips.
