Certifications: Required: CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC. Must-Have: GE experience, MRI experience. Description: Provides healthcare services, applying pulsed radio-frequency waves and magnetic energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures, computer processing, and related techniques to produce images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of procedures. Acts as a role model for comprehensive care, addressing the physiological and socio-cultural needs of patients and their families. Functions as a resource to other MRI staff in managing complex issues. Ensures equipment is present and accounted for at the beginning and end of each shift. Facilitates employee development and supports staff as needed. Verifies patients' clinical history, ensuring information is documented and readily available. Completes proper patient identification and order verification. Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Selects and operates magnetic resonance systems, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results. Positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Prepares/administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, and pushes images to a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) as the accepted electronic format for permanent patient records. Maintains a clean work environment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate department. Assignments are moderately complex; follows established protocols and has some flexibility in exercising judgment within established parameters. Works under minimal supervision/instruction; may serve as a technical specialist, trainer, and mentor to less experienced staff. Physical Demands: Seldom lifts over 50 lbs. from waist to waist.
