Description:
The MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider.
These procedures are for the diagnosis of disease and injury, following established protocols.
The technologist maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by adhering to established standards and procedures.
Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to identify service requirements, ensure correct exams, and establish rapport.
Instructs and communicates with patients and their families regarding the exam and assesses their ability to tolerate the procedure.
Prepares the patient and area for the procedure by positioning the patient, adjusting immobilization devices, and moving equipment into position.
Adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors as needed.
Protects patients and staff by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control practices, and protocols.
Uses proper sterile techniques when performing procedures and maintains hand hygiene requirements.
Maintains equipment and the work area to meet cleanliness and quality standards.
Collaborates with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
Reports any equipment issues to management or the appropriate department.
Assists in maintaining inventory of supplies.
Screens individuals according to approved policies to ensure safety in the department.
Obtains, verifies, and maintains relevant documentation such as requisitions, patient history, and consent forms.
Maintains medical imaging records in compliance with department policies for timely interpretation.
Demonstrates ability to perform high-quality MRI procedures according to protocols in a timely manner.
Effectively explains procedures to patients to help put them at ease.
Provides services in a cost-efficient manner while complying with established standards.
Performs tasks independently without routine oversight.
Maintains a calm and helpful attitude even under stress, taking appropriate steps to resolve issues.
Administers first aid and utilizes emergency equipment when necessary.
Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing professional service.
Maintains current knowledge and skills for caring for various age groups.
Serves as a preceptor, providing quality training to new team members on services and initiatives.
Available to take call if required.
