Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: Healthcare Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred Certifications: - MRI Technologist from ARRT or ARMRIT required upon hire - Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days Must-Have: GE experience Description: Provides health care services, applying pulsed radio-frequency waves and magnetic energy to assist diagnosis or treatment. Performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures, computer processing, and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Acts as a role model for comprehensive care, addressing the physiological and socio-cultural needs of patients and their families. Serves as a resource to other MRI staff in managing complex issues. Assures equipment is present and accounted for at the beginning and end of each shift. Assists in and facilitates employee development. Verifies patients' clinical history, ensuring documentation is available for the licensed practitioner. Completes patient identification and order verification. Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Selects and operates magnetic resonance systems, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results. Positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability and comfort. Prepares/administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Evaluates images and data for technical quality and manipulates display parameters. Pushes images to the picture archiving and communication system (PACS) in the accepted electronic format for permanent patient record, ensuring proper patient identification. Maintains a clean work environment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Assignments are moderately complex, following established protocols with some flexibility in exercising judgment. Works under minimal supervision and may serve as a technical specialist, trainer, and mentor to less experienced staff. Physical Requirements: Lifting weights up to 50 lbs. may be required occasionally. Standing, walking, and sitting may be performed occasionally. Requires occasional reaching above the shoulder and at shoulder or below.
