Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: Clinical Technician Specialty: N/A Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 0630-1700 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Must meet applicant eligibility requirements for MRI Certification and achieve certification within 12 months of hire date Certifications: AHA BLS Must-Have: Pediatric experience Description: Under immediate to general supervision and direction of a mentor/preceptor, this entry-level position works to achieve the initial competencies required to deliver specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to adult and/or pediatric patient populations. The purpose is to aid medical staff in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of simple to complex conditions, defects, and/or diseases. Utilizing entry-level knowledge, abilities, skills, and available resources, provides safe, high quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient-centric care and support services under routine or emergent conditions. This occurs in a variety of care settings, including acute inpatient facilities, outpatient physician practices, diagnostic/urgent care centers, and remote statewide outreach clinics. Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with procedures ordered by physicians. Communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team. Identifies and implements actions necessary to achieve clinical outcomes, operational goals, and service expectations. Utilizes highly specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic equipment and techniques. Performs a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional, and/or surgical procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines. Conducts post-procedure review with or without preceptor to confirm that all required elements are completed and documented. Ensures technical quality is consistent with established department protocols and/or applicable accreditation standards. Transfers images and data to the appropriate archival systems and enters technical data/findings. Prepares study for reporting by physician. Performs operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, high-level disinfecting, and other user maintenance per manufacturer instructions for use and regulatory guidelines. Participates in continuing education, professional development, and research activities to maintain competencies and promote continuous improvements in care and treatments. Skills in applying principles of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, and positioning of patients. Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions consistently. Must possess sensitivity to patients' physical and psychological needs. Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes. Ability to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Exhibits discretion in handling confidential information and sound judgment. Must be able to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations. Possesses understanding of various operations, policies, and procedures. Ability to communicate with staff, patients, and families in a professional and courteous manner. Displays a high level of initiative and commitment to completing assignments efficiently. Ability to work with minimal supervision and attention to detail. Core knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy, physiology, and relevant technologies and terminology. Ability to apply core-level primary specialty theory, practices, and techniques.
