Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: MRI Technologist Specialty: - Duration: 9 months Shift: Varied Tuesday through Friday 11am - 7pm; Saturday 8am - 4pm Hours per Shift: 7.5 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in MRI preferred License: Client License (L.R.T.) Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified) Must-Have: - Strong background in cross-sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and M.R. physics - Excellent technical skills and knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology Description: This position operates and/or prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures. The technologist applies the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient needs. The role includes performing MRI imaging procedures. Positioning patients and associated coils is required to obtain optimum study results. Patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures is provided. The technologist informs the patient of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged, and any specific instructions the patient may need. All patient safety questionnaires are reviewed before introducing any patients into the MRI scan room. MRI images are appropriately labeled as specified by departmental SOP. Images are evaluated for technical acceptability and must be transmitted to PACS in a timely fashion. All studies performed are entered in the Radiology Information System in a timely manner. Cleanliness of the Radiology room and equipment is ensured at the start and end of shifts. Soiled or dirty linen is removed. Patient-related documents are scanned as needed. Supplies and accessories necessary for safe operation are maintained in the radiographic room. Accurate recording of all required patient tracking information in the Radiology Information System is mandatory. Exams are scheduled into the Radiology Information System as required. Any needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions must be reported to the supervisor or appropriate personnel. The technologist assists physicians as required. Calls for in-patients are made as needed. Related clerical duties are performed in the absence of support personnel. Safety standards are maintained via strict adherence to safety guidelines. Infection control policies and protocols must be followed to protect self, patients, and employees. Attendance at in-services and other professional development meetings as required is expected. Maintaining licensure specific to the job in good standing is necessary. Other relevant duties may be assigned.
