Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 1 trauma tertiary hospital, requiring 2+ years of recent ICU experience and NE or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Med Surg ICU unit within a Level 1 trauma, primary tertiary acute care hospital
• 34-bed unit with nurse:patient ratios of 1:1-2 ICU, 1:4-5 PCU, and 1:5-6 MS
• Cares for adult and pediatric patients (15+ years) with diagnoses including neuro surgery, respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, general surgery, psych/OD, GI bleeds, and cancer surgeries
• Utilizes CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll Thermoguard, and Bell Mont rapid transfuser equipment
• RNs required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
• Charge nurse present each shift and responds to RRTs and Codes
• Patient care techs available at a 1:18 ratio
• RT equipment ranges from nasal cannula to ventilators, with RNs troubleshooting as needed
• Draeger heart monitors used with centralized telemetry; RNs must read and interpret strips independently
• 12-hour night shifts scheduled 1830-0630
• Every other weekend required with holiday coverage of 2 out of 3 major holidays or every other, based on unit needs
• Floats to all inpatient units excluding Maternity/NICU
• Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

• Active RN license (NE or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently
• Driver's license required at time of consideration

• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI or Dignity)
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
