Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float position requiring VA or compact RN license and NIHSS certification.

Details

  • Work in the MS/Tele Float pool of an acute care hospital
  • Patient population includes Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and Orthopedics cases, including ortho trauma and total joint replacement
  • Neurological/psychiatric patient care including CVA management
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
  • Floating may be requested based on facility needs
  • 13-week assignment length

Requirements

  • Active RN license (VA state license or compact license) required in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred, all through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Specialty experience required within the last year
  • Epic charting experience required
  • NIH Stroke Scale and stroke education required
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred
  • Prior CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) experience preferred
  • Prior ortho trauma and total joint replacement experience preferred
  • SSN required at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care to Med/Surg, telemetry, and orthopedic patients including cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Candidates cannot work both travel assignments and per diem contracts simultaneously at this facility
  • Prior permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months before being eligible for a travel assignment
  • RTO should be kept to a minimum, with no more than 7 days total and no full calendar weeks off during the assignment
  • All RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application, as no additional RTO requests will be approved after an offer is made
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
