Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring 3 years of RN experience and current CA licensure.

Details

• MS/Tele Float position covering respiratory/oncology med-surg unit
• Receives chemotherapy and chronic ventilator patients along with general med-surg patients
• Also floats to telemetry setting receiving general medical surgical and moderate volume orthopedic surgical cases
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• Average census of 36 with 36 rooms/beds
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Every other weekend coverage required
• No call requirement
• May float within the facility

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry and Med Surg experience required
• Total joint ortho experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must complete Onsite EKG Competency and Relias EKG test prior to start
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips
• Allscripts charting experience preferred
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Skilled in on-unit and remote telemetry monitoring
• Experienced with Rapid Response Team activation
• Skilled in post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and pre/post cardiac cath and surgery care
• Experienced in blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Skilled in heparin protocols and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Experienced with chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac)
• Skilled in CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Experienced in tracheostomy management
• References required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across med-surg, telemetry, oncology, and respiratory patient populations
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy treatments
• Manage chronic ventilator patients as part of caseload
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Facility is a smoke/nicotine-free environment; candidates must arrive free of tobacco odor
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Return staff reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• RTO must be submitted with initial application and confirmed for the full 13-week contract
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Once submitted, RTO cannot be changed except to cancel requested time off
