Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float position requiring at least 2 years of telemetry experience and ventilator management skills.

Details

• Float between Med-Surg and other Telemetry units
• Average unit census of 36 with 36 rooms/beds
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend coverage required
• No on-call requirements
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• Preferred charting system is Allscripts

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
• Ventilator management experience required
• Epic experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass onsite EKG competency exam and Relias EKG test prior to start
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experienced in telemetry monitoring, both on-unit and remote
• Skilled in use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experienced in pre/post cardiac cath, cardiac surgery, angiogram, and post-MI care
• Skilled in IV therapy including starting IVs, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Experienced managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and heparin protocols
• Skilled in respiratory care including chronic ventilator management, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• No license restrictions, disciplinary actions, board investigations, or background findings accepted

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across Med-Surg and Telemetry units with a focus on cardiac and respiratory patient needs
• Required to wear royal blue scrubs
• Facility is a smoke and nicotine-free environment; candidates must arrive free of tobacco odor
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Returning staff reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• RTO must be submitted with initial application and cannot be changed once approved, except to cancel requested time
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
