Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele Float RN with CA licensure and at least 2 years of telemetry experience for a night shift assignment requiring ventilator and advanced cardiac monitoring skills.

Details

  • MS/Tele float position requiring floating to Med-Surg and other telemetry units
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • 26-week assignment with a hard start date
  • Unit has an average census of 36 with 36 beds and a 1:4 patient ratio
  • Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Allscripts charting experience preferred
  • Royal blue scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active California RN license required at submission
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Must pass onsite EKG competency exam and Relias EKG test prior to start
  • Must be able to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and read cardiac rhythm strips
  • Ventilator experience required, including care of chronic/long-term ventilated patients
  • Experience with central line and PICC line care/management required
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) required
  • Experience with Heparin protocols required
  • Tracheostomy management and non-invasive airway management experience required
  • Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac) required
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, and post-MI care required
  • No background or license issues accepted, including restrictions, disciplinary actions, or board investigations

Additional Information

  • Monitor and respond to telemetry readings both on-unit and remotely
  • Utilize Rapid Response Teams as needed for emergent patient needs
  • Administer blood products and manage IV therapy, including starting and maintaining IVs
  • Facility is smoke and nicotine-free; candidates must arrive free of tobacco odor
  • Advanced EKG exam required with two attempts allowed and an 80% minimum passing score
  • Onsite exam includes 20 questions, 17 rhythm strips, and a 45-minute time limit; failure results in assignment cancellation
  • Required training modules must be completed prior to start, with time tracked via transcripts
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
  • Return staff are reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • RTO must be submitted with the initial application and cannot be changed once approved, except to cancel requested time
  • No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
