Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring TN or compact RN license and prior stroke/tele unit experience.

Details

• Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in stroke and TIA patients along with higher-acuity med-surg cases
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis
• Performs peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation
• Night shift, 3x12 schedule from 18:45-07:15
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 on nights
• Uses Omnicell medication system and Epic EMR
• Floating to other units required based on facility need and staff competencies
• Offers option of 13 or 26 week contract

Requirements

• Active TN RN license or compact license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Med/Surg Tele or similar unit required
• Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience managing cardiac drips, insulin, and heparin without titration
• Skilled in interpretation of dysrhythmias and remote telemetry monitoring
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care

Additional Information

• Provides direct patient care to stroke, TIA, and higher acuity med-surg patients with a strong focus on patient experience
• Participates in rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Weekly orientation held every Monday along with annual compliance training
• Completes pre-assignment testing and required modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Travelers must be more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible, with reduced eligibility distances for night shift Med/Surg Tele specialties (50+ miles from the contracted campus)
