Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a MS/Tele (Ortho) position at a Level I Adult Trauma teaching hospital in South Carolina, requiring orthopedic experience and active Epic EMR proficiency.

Details

  • Day shift position, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
  • 13-week travel contract
  • 26-bed orthopedic spine unit specializing in post-operative care for spinal surgeries including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies
  • Patient population includes Med/Surg and telemetry patients with diagnoses such as cardiac conditions, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, DVT, PE, and chest pain
  • Integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support on the unit
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6
  • Special procedures include bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post-renal biopsy, CT angiography, and Heparin drip management
  • Every other weekend required (approximately 6 weekend shifts per contract)
  • Charting via Epic EMR (required)
  • Agency staff are required to float to other units or campuses as needed; floating is limited to areas where documented competencies exist

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact (multistate) RN license currently in hand — pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a MS/Tele or orthopedic unit
  • Orthopedic nursing experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Dysrhythmia certification preferred
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from every Prisma Health facility system-wide to be eligible for this position
  • Orientation is held every Monday
  • Pre-assignment testing and online modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials, which are typically provided within 24 hours of contract signing
  • Modules are completed prior to the start date and must also be completed annually
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • This is a Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and a regional academic teaching medical center
  • RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and are subject to facility approval
