Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring ortho experience and Epic proficiency on a fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit with an average daily census of 37 across 39 beds
• Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical cases
• Fast-paced environment caring for ortho and spine patients requiring close pain management
• Patient ratios typically 5-6:1, flexing up to 7:1 in extreme cases
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
• Option for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required, with make-up time required if a weekend shift is missed
• Float requirement to other med-surg units within the facility based on census needs
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license
• BLS and NIHSS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient acute care experience required
• Minimum 1 year of orthopedic experience required (less than 1 year may be considered)
• Epic experience required for first-time travelers
• Skills required include IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with hip and trauma hip cases
• Experience with neuro spine post-surgical patients
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care for orthopedic, neuro spine, and post-surgical patients with a focus on pain management
• Weekly orientation provided
• Must complete approximately 8-10 hours of pre-start and annual online modules
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO approved on holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not during a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• First-time travelers welcome to apply if they have Epic experience
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details
• Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units with separate schedules
• 13-week minimum contract length, with longer assignments considered
