Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring telemetry experience and 2 years of acute care experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for MedTele, Post Cath, and Cardiac drip patients
• Patient diagnoses include chest pain, CAD, DM, PVD, COPD exacerbation, COVID+, TIA, stroke, HTN, Afib, Aflutter, bradycardia, tachycardia, wound infection, cellulitis, and GI bleed
• Involved procedures include pre/post angiogram and angioplasty (no sheath pulls), PPM/AICD, LINQ recorder, general surgical procedures, EGD, colonoscopy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, wound debridement, chest tube placement, central line insertion, thoracentesis, and paracentesis
• Uses telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, and wound vacs
• Epic charting system preferred
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
• No call-in requirement

Requirements

• Active RN license (LA state or Compact) in hand upon submission
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
• Telemetry experience required with ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration preferred)
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and IV insulin protocols
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required with candidate profile

Additional Information

• Provide care for cardiac telemetry, respiratory, neurological, and gastrointestinal patients including CVA and feeding tube management
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team during facility emergency events, with an expectation to remain onsite or serve as part of the relief team
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Orientation held five days per week
• Must live 65+ miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted
• RTO must be discussed during the interview process to avoid offer rescission
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required prior to start (Charge RNs not accepted)
• Former permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the facility before returning as a traveler
