Registered Nurse (RN) - Orthopedics Surgical Unit

Schedule

This position involves a night shift schedule consisting of three 12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. The contract is a 13-week assignment with potential extensions depending on the unit's needs.

Job Description

Join a fully surgical unit with a primary focus on orthopedics and joints. You will provide nursing care to patients undergoing procedures such as total joint replacements, spinal surgeries, and other orthopedic surgeries. The team will handle occasional medical overflow, ensuring high-quality care across diverse patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to post-operative orthopedic patients.
• Monitor patients’ conditions, including cardiac monitoring and management of dysrhythmias.
• Perform IV therapy and peripheral line care/management.
• Administer respiratory care, including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management.
• Maintain isolation precautions and utilize proper PPE.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical-Surgical Ortho setting.
• Current RN license; NC or Compact License pending is acceptable for submission.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams.
• Preferred: Skills in total joint replacement and spinal surgery.
