First-time travel nurses are welcome with the required cardiac nursing experience. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,770–$1,860
- Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
- Healthcare Setting: On-site cardiac telemetry unit
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks, with longer contract options potentially available
- Schedule: 3 night shifts per week, 36 hours weekly
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6, varying by acuity
- Weekend Coverage: Required; holiday coverage may be assigned
- Call: Not required
- Floating: Required within or near the assigned unit as needed
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Charting and Systems: Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a compact state
- At least 2 years of recent cardiac nursing experience
- Telemetry, medical-surgical telemetry, step-down, PCU, DOU, IMC, or similar experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
- Demonstrated ability to interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and manage cardiac drips, including titratable drips
- Experience with cardiac and vascular post-procedure care, sheath management, and sheath removal
- Successful completion of required EKG testing before the start date
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, holidays, and during emergency or disaster response activation when required
- Up to 7 days of time off may be approved in advance; time off is not permitted during the first week or on holidays, and additional requests cannot be added after booking
Cardiac Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care for adult and geriatric cardiac telemetry patients
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and promptly escalate changes in patient condition
- Care for patients with atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, coronary artery disease, valvular disease, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, peripheral vascular disease, and related conditions
- Manage patients before and after cardiac catheterization, cardioversion, electrophysiology procedures, pacemaker placement, and other cardiac interventions
- Support care for patients following CABG, valve replacement or repair, TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman procedures, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, and amputations
- Perform and document nursing assessments, medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, isolation precautions, and patient education
- Manage equipment and therapies including chest tubes, TR bands, femoral sheaths, Fem-Stop devices, epicardial pacing wires, arterial lines, EKGs, and non-invasive airway support
- Collaborate with physicians, rapid response teams, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation, social services, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float as assigned and participate in emergency, storm, hurricane, mass-casualty, or disaster response staffing when activated
