Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a short-term acute care hospital in Portland, OR, requiring at least 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting with 418 staffed beds
- MS/Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
- Patient population includes telemetry, plastics/surgical, bariatric, and general med/surg cases
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Floating between units within the facility and to sister facilities across the health system is expected and required
- Charting in Epic (required)
- No parking fee
- A personal vehicle is required for this assignment
- Scrubs of any color are acceptable
Requirements
- Active OR RN license or Compact license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
- Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access, blood product administration, central/PICC/peripheral line management
- Experience with heparin protocols and cardiac/vasoactive drip management (non-titration)
- Experience with respiratory support including HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, and isolation precautions/PPE
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, or per-diem), including location and dates
- 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Must not have any Nursys or background check hits
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include providing Med/Surg Telemetry care with skills such as early mobilization, CHG bathing, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube management, surgical drain care, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Floating to sister facilities across the health system (including Milwaukie, Newberg, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, and Saint Vincent locations) is required; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
- This is a no-orientation (NBO) position — candidates must be ready to begin without a standard orientation period
- Former permanent employees of this health system must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be accepted but at a reduced bill rate
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO may not be approved
- Pre-employment and annual online modules are required and completed on a non-billable basis
