Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of travel experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

  • Work in the Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit of a short-term acute care hospital
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating between units and sister facilities required based on skill set
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
  • OR RN license required
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Experience with feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, and renal failure management
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and PCA
  • Experience with high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
  • Skilled in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team protocols
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols
  • Experience with surgical drains and early mobilization techniques
  • Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive medical/surgical telemetry nursing care with an emphasis on early mobilization and CHG bathing protocols
  • Travelers may be required to float between multiple sister facilities in the region to meet staffing needs
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; minimal RTO is preferred to expedite the process
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years are required, and may include Charge RNs/Leads
  • Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius to be considered for the local rate
  • Former Providence permanent employees must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • First-time travelers will be screened during the consideration process
  • Scrub color requirements vary by department
