Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week hospital assignment requiring an active OH or compact RN license and 2 years of acute care experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
• Weekday and some weekend shifts required
• Uses EPIC EMR for charting
• May float to lower acuity units as needed
• Patient population includes neurological, psychiatric, and substance withdrawal cases

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• 2 years of RN experience with strong acute care background
• BLS certification required; ACLS and IV certification also required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management skills required
• Respiratory care skills required including chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE required
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include starting and managing IVs, administering medications, monitoring vitals, and educating patients on treatments and self-care
• Collaborate with the care team on patient plans and follow hospital policies to maintain patient safety
• Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as needed for emergency response
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted
• Prompt completion of Ohio fingerprinting process required immediately after signing contract
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
