Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology-Telemetry position requiring at least 2 years of acute care experience and current Epic charting experience.

Details

  • Work in the Medical/Surgical Oncology-Telemetry unit of a hospital environment
  • Patient population primarily consists of oncology patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring during chemotherapy administration
  • Care includes soft tissue malignancy patients receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management
  • Manage patients with symptom progression, comorbidities, and a strong focus on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
  • Patient ratio is 1:4
  • Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • Rotating 12-hour Day/Night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30), 3x per week
  • Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department staffing needs
  • Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required and in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with current acute care experience in the applying specialty within the last 12 months
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Skilled in accessing and managing ports
  • Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
  • Experience with blood product administration and IV starts
  • Ability to assist with chest tube insertion/removal
  • Experience managing high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and interpreting ABGs
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to oncology patients undergoing chemotherapy, symptom management, and disease-related treatment
  • Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice in an oncology telemetry setting is valued
  • Previous travel experience preferred but not required, and first-time travelers are welcome
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to work as a traveler at this facility
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be submitted with the contract request and is limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to state requirements
