Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology Telemetry position requiring EPIC experience and a minimum of 2 years of current acute care experience.

Details

  • Med/Surg Tele unit within an oncology hospital setting
  • Patients admitted for chemotherapy administration requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, soft tissue malignancy diagnostics and treatment, and symptom management related to disease progression
  • Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • 12-hour rotating shifts, Day (7:00-19:30) and Night (19:00-7:30), scheduled 3x12 per week
  • Shift assignments (day/night/rotation) reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with current acute care experience in the specialty within the last 12 months
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV starts, assisting with chest tube insertion/removal, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management, and interpretation of ABGs
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous travel experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

  • Provide oncology-focused medical/surgical and telemetry nursing care, including chemotherapy administration and symptom management for patients with soft tissue malignancies
  • Manage patient comorbidities and monitor for cardiac dysrhythmias related to treatment
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at this health system
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon signing contract; those outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
