Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring 2+ years of busy tele experience and an active MA RN license.

Details

• Work on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
• No call requirements
• No floating required
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Uses Meditech Expanse for documentation and Omnicell for medication management
• Unit orientation consists of 16 hours with a preceptor over two shifts

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a busy Med/Surg Tele unit without tele techs required
• Meditech charting system experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Rapid Response/Code team activation
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• Experience with wound care and wound vac management
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a diverse med/surg tele population including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and orthopedic cases
• Unit does not accept first-time travelers
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Local radius rule of 30 miles for rate eligibility
• Scrubs of any color are acceptable
• Requests for time off should be kept to a minimum and must be approved and documented prior to the start of the assignment
• Time off during the first two weeks of the assignment or for full calendar weeks off is discouraged
• Candidates should expect to work some holidays
