Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for an oncology unit requiring 2 years of current acute care experience in the specialty and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a Med/Surg Oncology unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with all subtypes of solid tumor cancers, including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer
• Cares for patients throughout their cancer journey, from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life transition
• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but can be up to 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling offered
• Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units
• Uses Epic for computerized charting

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• 2 years of current acute care experience required, consistently worked within the last 12 months and specific to the specialty
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and central line blood draws
• Experience accessing and managing ports preferred
• Experience with blood product administration
• Experience administering chemotherapy preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE
• Tracheostomy care/management skills preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Epic charting experience required
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted
