Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for an oncology unit requiring 2+ years of RN experience, EPIC proficiency, and current OH or compact license.

Details

• Med/Surg Oncology unit within a cancer hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), with rotating day/night scheduling possible based on department needs
• Patient population includes soft tissue malignancies receiving chemotherapy, diagnostic services, and symptom management
• Continuous cardiac monitoring required for patients undergoing chemotherapy administration
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with acute care experience current within the last 12 months and specific to the specialty applied for
• BLS certification required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience accessing and managing ports
• Skilled in arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration
• Proficient in IV starts and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Skilled in assisting with chest tube insertion/removal
• Experience managing high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and interpreting ABGs
• Chemotherapy administration experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care with a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Manage patients with comorbidities and symptoms related to disease progression or treatment
• Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is encouraged, especially for those new to oncology

• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at this facility
