Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of cardiac telemetry experience and BLS/ACLS certification.

Details

  • Work in the 4SE unit, a fast-paced short stay procedure and post-op unit within a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Patient population includes overnight post cath, CTO, PCI, EP, and surgical short stay cases with a strong cardiac focus
  • Average daily census of 22 patients, with up to 6 patients occasionally requiring longer medicine or surgery overflow stays
  • Day shift (0700-1930) or Night shift (1900-0730), 3x12-hour shifts with variable scheduling
  • Weekend shifts required unless otherwise noted on posted schedule
  • Floating required to other acute care floors within scope of practice
  • 17-week assignment with expectation to work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active WA RN license or compact license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Compliance Relias EKG telemetry test required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with hard requirement for telemetry experience
  • Strong cardiac telemetry skills required, especially for first-time travelers
  • Experience admitting and discharging patients in a fast-paced unit required
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, oxygen administration, telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, PCA management, and cardiac drip management (no titration)
  • Epic charting experience preferred but not required
  • Prior UW Medical Center staff must have 18 months separation before returning as a traveler

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care for cardiac telemetry and short-stay surgical/procedural patients, including pre/post cardiac cath and pre/post cardiac surgery care
  • Perform sheath removal and TR band application for post-cath patients
  • Manage central lines, peripheral lines, and PICC lines as needed
  • Additional skills may include wound care/wound vac management, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, and surgical drain management
  • Scrubs of any color accepted; scrubs provided for OR personnel
  • COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
  • First-time travelers will be considered if they demonstrate strong cardiac telemetry skills
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
  • RTO should be kept to a minimum and cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment
