Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of current MS/Tele experience and a KY or compact RN license.

Details

• MS/Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule alternating between 3x12 and 4x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6
• Uses Meditech EMR
• Float required within scope of practice
• Every other weekend required
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Rotating 36/48 schedule totaling 84 hours per two-week pay period

Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of current MS/Tele experience required
• 3-6 months of Level IV trauma or above experience
• Meditech charting experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy, and chest tube management
• Wound care and IV insulin protocol experience
• Two professional references required: one Charge nurse or higher, and one supervisor reference, both completed within the last year
• Valid driver's license required with address matching permanent residence

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to a diverse patient population including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, orthopedic, and post-surgical patients
• Manage cardiac drips without titration and administer medications including PCA and epidural analgesia
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Up to 7 days of RTO considered, must be requested upfront with no changes accepted
• Must work either a major or minor holiday for every holiday period
• Travelers may only submit to one position at a time
• Traveler pairs accepted on a limited basis; pairs will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
• Travelers must take a minimum 6-month break from the health system after completing a one-year assignment before returning
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on relevant Level IV experience
