Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a fast-paced ED boarder unit requiring 2 years of experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.

Details

• MS/Tele unit serving as an ED boarder area for overflow patients across hospital units, excluding critical care
• Adult to geriatric patient population with a wide variety of diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:5 on weekdays and 1:4 on weekends
• 3x12 Night shift schedule (19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• May float within specialty, including other MS/Tele units, as an extender
• No pre-scheduled on-call required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact)
• Current certifications required: BLS, NIHSS, and CPI (Calm Every Storm online version only)
• ACLS preferred
• Must pass a Tele competency exam
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
• Familiarity with heparin protocols and PCA management

Additional Information

• Provide care for a variety of patients in a high-volume ED boarder setting supporting multiple hospital units
• First-time travelers with strong relevant experience will be considered
• Candidates must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions
• RTO must be submitted at time of offer and cannot exceed 1 major and 1 minor holiday for fall/winter season
• Returning travelers must have been away from the system for at least 6 months before reassignment
• Former staff must be separated from the health system for 12 months before returning as travelers
• Locals residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
