Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of acute care experience and a CO or Compact RN license.

Details

• Surgical Specialties unit within a 36-bed Med/Surg Tele department
• Patient population includes Trauma (Level I), Acute Care Surgery, Reconstructive Urology, ENT, Vascular, Plastic, and Bariatric Surgery, and minimally invasive procedures
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:7, which may flex based on staffing and unit needs
• Rotating day and night shifts (3x12 hours), various days of the week including weekends per unit needs
• Uses Epic charting system
• Floating required within scope, including to sister facilities based on facility needs
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years acute care experience in a high acuity unit required
• BSN preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Experience with flexible staffing ratios required
• Proficiency in central line management, nasogastric tube insertion, ostomy changes, and patient education required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and various line management preferred
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry preferred
• Wound care and wound vac experience preferred

Additional Information

• Manage a surgical specialties patient population requiring central line care, tube management, and ostomy education
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during select weeks
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• Completion of all facility-specific modules required within the first week of assignment
• Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or affiliated hospitals within the past two years will not be considered
• Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment may not be rebooked for at least one year
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are accepted
