Travel Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Madison, Wisconsin
Seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel nursing contract in Madison, Wisconsin. Join a neuro-specialty inpatient team and use your acute-care, telemetry, and evidence-based nursing expertise to care for adult and geriatric patients with complex medical, surgical, neurological, stroke, spine, and trauma-related conditions.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Madison, Wisconsin — a vibrant, welcoming city known for its lakes, scenic trails, cultural attractions, farm-to-table dining, and energetic university-town atmosphere
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 9, 2026
- End Date: February 8, 2027
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour nights
- Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
- Hours per Week: 36
- Scheduling: Monday–Friday night coverage with weekend rotation and holidays as needed
- Unit: 25-bed neuro-specialty general care unit
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Float Requirement: Float as needed
Med/Surg Tele RN Job Requirements
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
- At least 2 years of acute-care inpatient Registered Nurse experience within the past 3 years, including Neuro Med/Surg or telemetry nursing
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Recent experience with Epic electronic medical records
- Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
- Successful completion of a pre-start telemetry assessment
- Ability to meet assignment requirements for weekend rotation, holiday coverage, and floating
Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate, patient- and family-centered care to adult and geriatric neuro-medical and surgical patients
- Care for patients with conditions including multiple sclerosis, ALS, stroke, epilepsy, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, substance withdrawal, and complex orthopedic or trauma diagnoses
- Support pre- and post-operative care for spine procedures, craniotomies, brain tumor cases, and other neurosurgical or ophthalmology procedures
- Perform ongoing assessments, administer medications, manage IV and central-line therapies, and monitor patients for changes in condition
- Interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias, respond to clinical deterioration, and activate rapid-response or code resources when appropriate
- Manage oxygen therapy, tracheostomies, chest tubes, feeding tubes, PICC lines, PCA therapy, wound care, and wound vacs
- Administer blood products, insulin and heparin therapies, and follow established IV medication protocols
- Collaborate with nursing assistants, therapists, respiratory services, pharmacy, rehabilitation, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Document patient care accurately in Epic and contribute to evidence-based quality outcomes
