Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring WI or compact RN license and recent acute care experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit within an academic teaching hospital
• Day and night 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730) with every other weekend rotation
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Floating required as needed
• Cardiac monitoring with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum two years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
• Prior charge experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral/PICC line care/management
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Experience with rapid response/code teams and isolation precautions/PPE
• Must pass a telemetry competency exam prior to starting, covering adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation with strict passing criteria
• Previous travel nursing experience required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Work within a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Telemetry exam requires 100% accuracy on lethal rhythm identification and no more than one incorrect answer on 3rd degree heart block questions, with an 80% or higher passing score
• Two attempts allowed to pass the telemetry exam; a third attempt requires completion of a cardiac interpretation review course
