Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 2 years of experience, ACLS and BLS certifications, and an Alabama or Compact RN license.
Details
- Work setting is a Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital environment
- Prior experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, or PCU/Stepdown settings is required
- Patient ratio is 1:5
- Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Floating to other Med/Surg units is required
- Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills are essential
- Responsibilities include IV therapy, Heparin protocols, and managing cardiac drips (no titration)
- Additional skills include blood product administration, central line care, peripheral line care, and non-invasive airway management
Requirements
- Active RN license for Alabama or a Compact state license currently in hand or pending
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Experience in Telemetry, MS/Tele, or PCU/Stepdown settings required
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Ability to start IVs and manage Heparin protocols and cardiac drips (no titration)
- 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

- RTO requests are limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the assignment
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are eligible to apply
- Facility-provided housing is available and highly recommended given the remote location; shared units with private bedrooms in gender-specific housing (no dogs allowed); travelers coordinate directly with the facility
- Orientation includes non-billable online modules, averaging approximately 8 hours, completed during the orientation period
