Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN-Med/Surg Tele for a Level III trauma unit specializing in ortho, bariatric, and colorectal post-op care, requiring prior travel experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- 28-bed elective surgery and Level III trauma unit (2E) specializing in post-op care for ortho, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients
- Also cares for Level III trauma patients and accepts Medical-Surgical overflow as census allows
- Unit has capacity to monitor up to 8 telemetry patients
- Day shift schedule, 3x12s or 4x12s, 7:00-19:30
- Typical patient ratio is 1:7, budgeted for 1:5 but flexes up to 1:7 max
- Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within the contract
- Must work two of the three winter holidays
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
- Minimum of two years recent relevant experience required
- Previous travel experience required
- BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in Epic EMR required, no exceptions
- No prior license or background hits permitted
- Must pass EKG/telemetry competency test at 80% or higher with only one attempt allowed
- Cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing; history of fit test issues disqualifies candidacy
Additional Information
- Provide post-operative nursing care for ortho, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients, plus trauma and overflow med-surg patients
- Skills such as GI care, respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy, chest tubes), IV therapy, wound care, and cardiac monitoring are utilized on this unit
- Preferred experience includes charge nurse duties and teaching hospital background
- 3 hours of billable modules required prior to start
- Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be considered for this position
- RTO requests reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to travel experience requirement
