Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience and prior travel contract history at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital.

Details

• MS/Tele Float pool role within a large acute care hospital environment
• Float pool covers all acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
• Patient population includes Ortho, Neuro-Stroke, and Cardiac Telemetry cases
• High volume of peripheral nerve catheter management on ortho floors
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30
• Every other weekend required, with flexibility requested
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• No block scheduling accommodations available
• Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

• Active WA RN license or compact license (pending license accepted)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• BSN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele or stepdown experience in a Level I or Level II trauma setting required
• Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Minimum of 1 prior travel contract required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry proficiency exam at orientation
• Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with insulin drip titration required
• Strong ortho and neuro clinical skills required
• Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across MS/Tele, Ortho, Cardiovascular, and Endocrine/Metabolic patient populations
• Skills should include CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response
• Shift structure may split 12-hour shifts between two units, requiring strong time management skills
• Facility prefers to avoid placing travel pairs together
• Scrubs may be any solid color; light blue scrubs also provided on unit
• RTO cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment, including orientation week
• No RTO permitted during Christmas holidays; travelers may take 1 of 3 major holidays off but must work 2 (eve/day)
• Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
