Description
American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for night shifts at a Certified Stroke Center, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications and neuro critical care experience.
Details
- Neuro Intensive Care Unit at a Certified Stroke Center
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-6:45)
- Patient ratio of 2:1
- Float required to other ICUs
- Every other weekend required
- Block scheduling may be considered
- Epic charting system preferred
Requirements
- Active RN license (OK State or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required in hand
- 1-2 years of Neuro ICU experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Skilled in EVD management, ventilator management, and CVA/acute stroke management
- Experience with ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
- Proficient in arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
- Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics
- Experience with CRRT/CVVHD preferred
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and ABGs
Additional Information
- Coordinate nursing care based on established clinical standards for Neuro ICU patients
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel in compliance with Board of Nursing guidelines
- Assist with discharge planning and patient/family education
- Brief onsite orientation provided for floating to like units
- Onsite orientation includes required non-billable modules (approximately 4-6 hours for RNs)
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent staff must have been separated from employment for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers will be considered for this role
