Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
- Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or Compact license eligible
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Strong experience caring for stroke, post-neurosurgical, and critically ill neuro patients
- Must be comfortable floating within or near the facility as needed
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Experience with Epic charting preferred and required
- Ability to work with vents, ICP monitoring, EVDs, lumbar drains, and other neuro critical care equipment
- Open to working every other weekend and rotating holidays as scheduled
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult neurocritical care patients
- Monitor and manage patients with strokes, SAH, SDH, seizures, craniotomies, aneurysm procedures, and related conditions
- Perform thorough assessments, intervene promptly, and collaborate with the care team for rapidly changing patient needs
- Manage ventilated patients, continuous IV sedation, dysrhythmias, and invasive monitoring devices
- Care for patients with EVDs, lumbar drains, hemovacs, Camino, LICOX, and NICOM equipment
- Support post-neurosurgery and comprehensive stroke care with strong clinical judgment
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and communicate effectively using SBAR
- Follow infection prevention, isolation, and PPE protocols to promote patient safety
- Adapt to unit needs, patient acuity, and variable census while delivering excellent bedside care
