Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience with a strong neuro background and stroke care experience.

• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Required to work every other weekend
• 50% holiday coverage required
• Mandatory floating to ICU and Med Surg units as needed
• Cerner charting system preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active RN license (MO or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required with a strong neuro clinical background
• Stroke care experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, HFNC, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Neurological skills required including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD management, ICP monitoring, post neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• IV insulin protocol management and heparin drip management skills required
• Must be able to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs as an essential function of the role

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neuro ICU patients requiring close monitoring and specialized neurological interventions
• Works in a healthcare facility operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including holidays and during inclement weather
• Routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
• Maximum requested time off (RTO) is 10 days
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
• Re-orientation not required for returning travelers within 18 months of their last assignment
