Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of Neuro ICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Neuro ICU of a teaching hospital environment
• 13-week assignment with Day/Night rotating shifts (3x12 Hours)
• Day shift hours 7:00-19:00 and Night shift hours 19:30-7:30
• Every other weekend required, with weekend defined as Friday and Saturday nights
• Shift rotation occurs every 4 weeks
• Estimated patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Uses Epic EHR system
• No guaranteed block scheduling or paired scheduling with another traveler

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skilled in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring
• Experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
• Experience managing CVA/acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury patients
• Skilled in central line, PICC line, and arterial line management
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN
• No coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neurologically complex patients including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and post-neurosurgical cases
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Locals are accepted at the same rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• Requested time off must be submitted in advance and built into the contract
• Ohio fingerprinting is required promptly after signing the contract, with candidates outside Ohio required to travel to a fingerprinting location or complete a mailed fingerprinting packet
