Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
• Previous travel RN experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact license accepted
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Strong background in neuro critical care, not just general ICU experience
• Experience with ventilators, IV starts, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, post-neurosurgery care, and CVA/acute stroke management
• Comfort with EVDs, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and care of ventilated patients
• Ability to pass required EKG testing prior to start
• Open to floating within or near the facility as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to adult Neuro ICU patients with complex neurological and stroke-related conditions
• Monitor and manage patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subdural hematomas, craniotomies, aneurysm procedures, seizures, and other neuro diagnoses
• Safely care for patients requiring EVDs, lumbar drains, ICP monitoring, and other advanced neuro equipment
• Assess patient status, interpret telemetry, and respond to changes in neurologic and cardiac condition
• Administer blood products, sedatives, and critical care medications according to unit protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support high-quality, coordinated patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively using SBAR and established unit workflows
• Support a 2:1 patient ratio, with flexibility up to 3:1 during high census when appropriate
