Travel MICU Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in New Haven, Connecticut

Join a high-acuity Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) in New Haven, CT as a Travel Registered Nurse (RN). This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers 36 hours per week on consistent 12-hour night shifts while caring for complex medical ICU and stepdown patients in a collaborative acute-care environment. • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3 in stepdown; ICU assignments may range from 1:1 to 1:2 based on patient acuity
• Orientation: 16 hours
• Healthcare Setting: High-acuity MICU and stepdown care within a Level I trauma setting

MICU Travel Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent MICU, ICU, or comparable critical care Registered Nurse experience
• Active Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license, or a license application initiated before submission with sufficient time for issuance
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Demonstrated experience caring for critically ill adult patients
• Proficiency with arterial line management, ventilated patient care, central line management, continuous IV sedation, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience interpreting arterial blood gases and caring for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
• Ability to float to progressive care and other critical care units as needed
• Current flu vaccination required
• Travel assignment eligibility; candidates residing within 75 miles of the assignment location are not eligible
• One professional reference required

Critical Care RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients in the MICU and stepdown unit
• Manage patients with acute respiratory failure, sepsis, liver or renal failure, post-cardiac arrest conditions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and other complex critical illnesses
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data, arterial blood gases, cardiac rhythms, and changes in patient condition
• Care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage continuous IV sedation according to clinical protocols
• Perform central line care, arterial line management, isolation precautions, and other critical care interventions
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapists, patient care assistants (PCAs), and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Float to the progressive care unit (PCU), other intensive care units, or an affiliated campus when operational needs require
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support safe transitions of care
