Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Neuro ICU RN for a night shift position requiring strong EVD/ICP management skills and a compact or PA RN license.

Details

• Work in a 10-bed Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) caring for critically ill stroke and neurosurgery/neurology patients ages 18 and older
• Unit serves as an overflow area for medical patients
• Provides post-operative care for neurosurgery and neuro-endovascular procedures including ICP monitoring, EVD, mechanical thrombectomy, AVM repair, aneurysm repair, carotid stenting, craniotomy, and CRRT
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15) with every other weekend required
• One hardship shift required depending on assignment timeframe
• May be required to float to other units including ICU and acute care areas
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or PA) required, no license restrictions accepted
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (ENLS preferred)
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Level I Trauma center experience required
• Strong clinical experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, angiogram post-care, CRRT, carotid procedures, and embolizations required
• Skilled in arterial line management, central/PICC line care, ventilator management, and titration of vasoactive and sedation drips
• Experience managing CVA/acute stroke, post-craniotomy, and post-neurosurgery patients required
• Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex neurosurgical and neurological patients, including post-operative and endovascular procedure management
• May care for COVID-positive patients
• Facility is tobacco and fragrance free
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holiday periods (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), or 1 of 2 if contract spans fewer
• Maximum requested time off is 7 days per contract
• Candidates residing within 50 miles may be considered local and offered a different pay rate
• Travel pairs may be submitted together, though matched schedules cannot be guaranteed
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
