Job Summary The facility is seeking a Neuro Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract role starting in Wausau. This position involves providing specialized neurological critical care, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurosurgery patients, with a focus on neuro assessments and bedside ICU procedures in a dedicated Neuro unit.
Job Details
Location: Wausau, with float rotation between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit units, possibly covering other inpatient critical care units as needed.
Qualifications: WI RN License, BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or ARC, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Associate Degree or Certificate, 2 years of minimal experience with a preference for those with travel assignment experience in Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU.
Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shift, 36 hours per week.
Additional Information: The unit is an 8-bed Neuro unit caring for patients with stroke, TBI, head injury, and neurosurgery. Experience with neuro assessments, basic ICU procedures, and neuro-specific interventions such as bolt and drain placements or ICP monitoring is required. Strong assessment skills and resilience are essential; familiarity with EVDs is a plus. The role includes every other weekend and holiday rotation, and compliance with vaccination policies is mandatory.
Submission Requirements: Candidates must have a valid WI RN License and current certifications.
