Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a high-acuity Level I Trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Center, requiring 2 years of ICU experience with 1 year in a dedicated Neuro ICU and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

• 24-bed Neurosurgical ICU within a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level I Trauma Center
• High acuity, fast-paced surgical ICU setting
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day and night rotating shifts (3x12 hours), various days of week
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required, including to sister facilities in the Metro region per facility needs
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, including at least 1 year in a dedicated Neuro ICU
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Competent in hourly neurological assessments
• Experience with intracranial pressure management and external ventricular drains (EVD)
• Experience managing subarachnoid hemorrhage, post-thrombectomy, and post-craniotomy patients
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and titration of vasoactive and sedation drips
• Experience with ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with arterial line and central line management

Additional Information

• Provide critical care to neurosurgical ICU patients with complex, high-acuity conditions
• Manage patients with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, and post-neurosurgical needs
• Navy scrub color required
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract
• RTO not permitted during specified blackout periods throughout the contract
• First-time travelers welcome if experience requirements are met
• Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are eligible for a local bill rate
• Previous UCHealth employees must disclose prior employment history for eligibility review
• Candidates who applied to UCHealth's internal travel or perm positions within the last two years are ineligible for consideration
