Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of Neuro ICU experience and NV RN licensure.

Details

  • 18-bed Beacon Designated Intensive Care Unit specializing in Neuro ICU care within a Level II Trauma Center hospital
  • Cares for a large neuro population including ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, neurologic tumors, and seizure patients, as well as general Medical ICU patients (DKA, sepsis, respiratory)
  • Uses EPIC EMR charting system
  • 3x12 night shift schedule, 1845-0715
  • No call requirements
  • Floating required to other units based on organizational needs, up to competency level
  • Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts

Requirements

  • Active NV RN license required prior to start
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
  • Experience caring for Neuro Trauma and post neuro-surgery patients required
  • Experience with post Alteplase and/or post Thrombectomy patients preferred
  • Experience with post neurosurgical patients with external ventricular drains preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred; training provided during orientation or can test out

Additional Information

  • Provides comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinates care with other professionals as part of a multidisciplinary, patient-centered care team
  • Works in an extremely busy, fast-paced Level II Trauma Center serving a 500-mile radius with 800 inpatient beds
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays (Eve + Day counts as 1 holiday)
  • May be required to pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • A 13-week break is required for returning travelers after completing a prior contract
  • First-time travelers may be considered but must apply for licensure promptly upon offer if they have never held a temporary or permanent license
