Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of neuro ICU experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Neuro ICU of a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital that is a Level I Trauma Center
  • Care for patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, CNS infections, subdural/epidural hematomas, ICP monitoring needs, and neurotrauma including GSW, MVC, and spinal cord injuries
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Performs specialized procedures including vasoactive medication administration, central line/arterial line management, ICP monitoring, CRRT, hypothermia/hyperthermia management, and spinal precautions
  • Uses specialized equipment including EVDs and bolts
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:30
  • Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
  • EPIC charting system used

Requirements

  • Active RN license (MO state license or compact, must match permanent residence)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with 2 years specifically in a neuro ICU setting
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Preferred certifications: TNCC, BSN, and 10 hours of stroke education
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • EPIC charting experience preferred
  • Skills required in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair allowing for proper respirator fit testing

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to neuro ICU patients requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
  • Will complete 10 hours of stroke education total during orientation, with NIHSS and ACLS certifications able to satisfy a portion of these hours if completed within the year
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Local candidates within a 75-mile radius are not accepted for this position
  • Previous permanent employees of BJC facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Standard travelers must reside outside a 75-mile radius and may stay for up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
