Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a Neuro Med/Surg night shift position requiring NIH Stroke Scale certification and a PA or compact RN license.

Details

• Neuro Med/Surg unit on the 8th floor of a Level I Trauma Center hospital
• 22-bed unit caring for adult patients
• Patient ratios of 1:6, which may increase to 1:7 depending on ED holds
• Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, seizure, inability to ambulate, and respiratory and urinary conditions, with rare cardiac cases
• Uses Mindray vital sign machines, GE EKG, and cardiac monitors
• Documents in Epic EHR
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend requirement of 2 of every 4 weekends, or 4 of 8 weekend shift days; straight weekend schedules available upon request
• Rare floating required
• No call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Swallow screen certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Neuro experience strongly preferred
• Must demonstrate competency in dysrhythmia recognition and complete a dysrhythmia and math dosage test on first day of orientation
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
• Active, verifiable license on Nursys required at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to adult patients on a Neuro Med/Surg stepdown unit
• Facility will provide a study guide and welcome packet in advance of the dysrhythmia and dosage test
• Facility will provide all necessary unit-specific education
• Must be available to work assigned holidays as determined during phone screening
• Scrubs of any color are acceptable; hoodies, t-shirts, graphic apparel, and facial piercings are not permitted
• Weekly orientation sessions held on Mondays
• Candidates must complete PA-specific background clearances, including Child Abuse History Clearance, DHS and FBI fingerprinting, and PATCH State Police Clearance, prior to starting
• Candidates must reside 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for the travel rate
• Candidates cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
• Candidates cannot be employed full-time elsewhere while on assignment
