Registered Nurse (RN) - Neuro Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Job Description

A healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for their Neuro Medical Surgical and Telemetry unit. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients with higher medical surgical acuity, including post-operative spinal surgeries, trauma patients, and various other critical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive neuro assessments to evaluate patient conditions.
• Manage drains and provide critical care for patients post-surgery and those recovering from trauma.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Monitor vital signs and other clinical indicators, addressing any changes in patient status efficiently.
• Float to other medical-surgical or telemetry units as needed.
• Provide care for stroke patients and manage conditions such as DKA, renal failure, and general post-operative care.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Indiana.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NIHSS certification can be obtained during the first week of orientation.
• 1-2 years of experience in a similar nursing role is required.
• Strong critical thinking and assessment skills are essential.

Work Schedule

This position requires flexibility to work day and night shifts, with a schedule of 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM, and includes every other weekend.

• Number of beds in the unit: 24
• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 5:1 or 6:1
• Department monthly volume: 24 patients
