Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Operating Room position requiring neuro, trauma, ortho, and robotics experience along with a compact or PA RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Operating Room of a hospital environment, specifically the Neuro OR
  • Care for neuro, trauma, ortho and robotics surgical patients
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Day shift schedule: 4x10 hours (0700-1730) or 3x12 hours (0700-1930)
  • No guaranteed block scheduling
  • On-call required 1-2 times per week (Mon-Thur), starting after shift until 0700 the next morning with a 30-minute callback response
  • Weekend call required 2 shifts every 6 weeks, from end of shift Friday through 0700 Monday
  • No scheduled weekend shifts, weekends are call only
  • Holiday coverage is call only, based on department need
  • No floating required
  • May care for COVID-19 patients

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact or PA license required)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Experience with neuro procedures required, including craniotomy, cervical and lumbar fusions, laminectomy/discectomy, VP shunt insertion, kyphoplasty, ALIF, and XLIF
  • Skilled in patient positioning (lateral, supine, prone)
  • Experience with electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords
  • Knowledge of universal protocol (time out) procedures, specimen handling, wound management, and infection control
  • First-time travelers not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide surgical nursing care for neuro, trauma, ortho, and robotics cases including gunshot/stab wounds and multiple-injury MVA trauma
  • Facility is tobacco and fragrance free
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
  • Local candidates within a 50-mile radius may be considered at a lower bill rate
  • Blocked scheduling is not approved
  • Travel pairs may be submitted together, though matched schedules cannot be guaranteed
